The
PGA Championship, held since 1916, is the golf season's final major and is traditionally held in mid-August.
PGA Championship winners are automatically invited to play in the 3 other majors for the next 5 years, and are exempt from qualifying for the
PGA Championship for life.
They also receive membership on the PGA Tour for the following five seasons and invitations to The Players Championship for five years.
The most successful
PGA Championship players of all-time are Walter Hagen and Jack Nicklaus, who each won 5 titles apiece. Tiger Woods' 2007 victory brought him to 4 championships, making him third on the list. Woods is also the only player since 1937 to have successfully defended the
PGA Championship, doing so in both 2000 and 2007.
The 2010
PGA Championship will be held at Whistling Straits in Haven, Wisconsin. It also hosted the 2004 championship, when Vijay Singh was victorious.
