About the Newmarket July Meeting
Situated on the Suffolk-Cambridgeshire border Newmarket is the head quarters of British flat racing. Many of the countries leading trainers ply their trade here with over 2,500 race horses and more than 70 trainers using Newmarket as their base.
The area and racecourse is steeped in history with it being the original home of the Jockey Club and is also responsible for Britain's first ever race under rules over three centuries ago.
The course consists of two racecourses the Rowley Mile and the July Course. After Newmarket's classic meeting in early May their next big meeting is the Ritz Club July Festival held each year early that month. The meeting is full of top class races where the best group horses contest a number of high class races.
