Reliable front runner The Jailer is feared most with a soft lead possible and conditions to suit but RAZZANO (NAP) has a win and a second from two starts at this venue and Alex Hales consistent filly deserves to land another prize. She’s been knocking loudly at the door on the all-weather recently but turf suits her much better, she takes a drop in grade and Richard Quinn takes over from an apprentice.

The two hurdlers returning to the level, Sayago and Summer Of Love, spice things up more than a touch as both are more than capable of a bold show but it’s usually best to stick with proven course performers around here and so BIENHEUREUX gets the vote after his impressive course and distance victory last month. Gay Kelleway’s three-time course and distance winner absolutely routed a big field here 16 days ago, helping Neil Callan to complete a four-timer on the day and although up 8lb now, he always runs his race here and another big run looks assured.

Although impressive at Folkestone last time, his all-weather form isn’t of the same standard so Hereford Boy is taken on with XPRES MAITE who comes here on a roll after completing the hat-trick in devastating style at Wolverhampton last time, his fifth win in his last seven starts. Equally impressive when thrashing five rivals over 1m here previously, his very high cruising speed should enable him to be as effective over this shorter trip.

Yakimov was tempting despite his defeat last time but this is tougher again back in handicap company and preference is for FULL VICTORY who although doesn’t have any course form in the book, is by a sire that gets loads of winners on Fibresand and he’s got plenty of form on soft ground, which is usually a reliable guide. He did brilliantly to overcome the worst draw over 1m at Beverley last time, staying on strongly to win an ultra competitive handicap under today’s jockey. This is less competitive so although penalised, he’s still expected to go very close to following up.
