With competition between the bookmakers intensifying each week they are pricing-up the daily racing earlier and earlier these days and while in the past it used to be around 10:15 that the majority of the layers prices came in you will certainly see a bigger bunch pricing up a normal days racing a lot earlier, from 8:30am.
On the bigger race days, like the Cheltenham Festival, Aintree Grand National Meeting, Royal Ascot and most Saturday’s, expect the bookmakers to compete even further for business and it will not be uncommon to see the layers offering ‘early prices’ on those days as soon as the final cards are out, normally 48 hours in advance for all flat races and 24 hours for the jump races.
Finally, it’s also worth looking out for special offers and concessions from the layers with regards to ‘early prices’. There are plenty out there that will guarantee ‘early prices’. This can mean that if you take an early price in the morning and the final SP is bigger they will still honour the greater SP price – so in theory by taking the early price you can’t really lose. E.g Take 2/1 and your selection wins at 6/4 you get 2/1, take 2/1 and your pick returns at an SP of 4/1 then you get paid at 4/1!
