Carling Cup Odds

The Carling Cup, usually referred to as the League Cup, is an English domestic cup competition containing all 92 Football League clubs from the Premier League down to League Two. Since its inception in 1960 Liverpool have been the most successful team in Carling Cup history, lifting the trophy seven times but it is Man Utd who have been dominating Carling Cup betting in recent years with three wins in five seasons including a 2-1 success against Aston Villa in the 2010 final.

With the FA Cup and European Cups taking precedence amongst the Premier League's elite, the Carling Cup offers an opportunity for the Premier League's midtable sides to win some silverware with success also providing a gateway into the Europa League. The decision amongst some elite team managers to field weaker sides in the competition opens the door to the odd upset making Carling Cup betting a profitable venture.

Carling Cup odds are generally short for best four sides in the Premier League (Chelsea, Man Utd, Arsenal and Tottenham), with one these four clubs winning the last six League Cup finals whilst Sheff Wed back in 1991 were the last club from outside the top level of English football to lift the trophy.

Premier League clubs not playing in the Champions League or Europa League join first round winners in the second round stage with remaining Premier League teams entering the competition in round three.

The semi-finals are played over two legs, home and away with aggregate score deciding the winners.

The final is played at Wembley where it returned in 2008 after seven years at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.
