Think of Sandown Park races and your thoughts ultimately turn to the Coral Eclipse 2012. This is the first all-aged race of the season for Group One horses and a first chance to compare the merits of the classic crop against the older horses.

The Sandown Park track first hosted this Group One event in 1886 when its prize fund was £10,000. The race has been sponsored by bookmaker Coral since 1976 and has seen many classic winners enhance their reputation down through the years including Nashwan and Hawk Wing.

However, there have only ever been five dual winners of the race, the most recent being Mtoto (87/88) and Halling (95/96).
