Aviva Premiership
The Aviva Premiership, taking over from the previously named Guinness Premiership, is England’s top Rugby Union league competition consisting of the country’s best twelve clubs.
The 2010-11 season will be the 24th season of Premiership Rugby in England and the first year Aviva have sponsored the competition, a competition that has been dominated by Leicester Tigers and London Wasps since the turn of the century with nine wins between.
The 2009-10 season saw the Tigers finish first in the league standings for the fourth time before they went on to lift their fifth grand final title with a 33-27 play-off final win over Saracens at Twickenham, with Jimmy Gopperth and Chris Ashton finishing the season as top points scorer and top tryscorer respectively.
After promotion from the National Championship, Exeter Chiefs will play in the Aviva Premiership for the first time in their history for the 2010-11 campaign whilst the Worcester Warriors were relegated after six years in the top flight.
Unsurprisingly the Aviva Premiership betting has Leicester Tigers as favourites to finish top once more and win the Grand Final with Northampton Saints second favourites, whilst Exeter are odds on favourites to make a swift return to the Championship.
