Wimbledon betting odds 2011

Wimbledon Bets

Wimbledon 2011

Betting on Wimbledon is big business. Millions of pounds are traded on the tournament result every year, with some individual games even being matched for tens of millions in-running. Bookmakers offer a huge variety of markets for punters to bet on, ranging from the outright winner to how many rain delays there will be - or even whether there will be a streaker on the court! Wimbledon odds (and tennis betting markets in general) can fluctuate heavily as the competition progresses, with a players performance in the early rounds being a key indicator of market confidence. A lot of Wimbledon predictions will revolve around the players in form, so look out for the winners of the Queen's Club Championships and the Eastbourne International going well at Wimbledon.

Mens Wimbledon

The mens event has been dominated by Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal in recent year. The pair have won each of the last 8 consecutive Wimbledon finals between them, while they played each other in the final in 2006, 2007 and 2008. However, there are several emerging contenders in SW19, including Andy Murray who has made the semi-finals for the last 2 successive years. His Wimbledon odds are declining every year as he gets closer to winning the championship. There is also Novak Djokovic, who has never made it beyond the Wimbledon semi finals but has enjoyed the best season of his tennis career in 2011.

Womens Wimbledon

The 21st century has been dominated by the Williams sisters. Venus and Serena have won 9 of the 11 Wimbledon ladies finals from 2000 onwards, with only Maria Sharapova (2004) and Amelie Mauresmo (2006) breaking their grip on the trophy. However, their increasing age means that younger challengers are starting to emerge. Vera Zvonareva made the 2010 final while Caroline Wozniacki has already been world number 1 at the tender age of 20 and is one of the rising stars of the tennis world.
