Manchester United v Everton Betting Preview

Premier League - Saturday 12:45 Sky Sports 2

It hasn't been the best of weeks for Manchester United but the point at Newcastle on Tuesday night was not a bad result in the context of the title race, and Sir Alex Ferguson's side will expect nothing less than maximum points from Saturday's live lunchtime clash with Everton.

It's 19 years since Everton managed to win at Old Trafford and David Moyes' side are as big as 7-1 to end that run and throw the title race open again, but United know they can't afford another slip up and there is every chance they will make short work of The Toffees, who have only managed four wins from their 16 away games this term (three of which have come against sides in the bottom half of the table).

That said, despite having many of their best players out injured, Everton are unbeaten in their last seven Premer League games and they are now bang in contention for Europa League football next season, which is some achievement given how poorly they started the season (they didn't win any of their first five games).

United are in a very strong position though, especially in terms of their squad, which has few major injury worries (Darren Fletcher is close to returning) and that is allowing Sir Alex Ferguson the luxury of rotating and resting players during this busy period. The Premier League's top scorer Dimitar Berbatov wasn't even on the bench at Newcastle having felt unwell but expect the Bulgarian to be back on Saturday, possibly at the expense of Javier Hernandez, who didn't have one of his better games in midweek. Chris Smalling was immense alongside captain Nemanja Vidic and the pair don't have much to fear from a threadbare Everton forward line that will probably be led by the frustrating Jermaine Beckford, who has only found the net once since February.

United can pile the pressure on their title rivals by opening up a 9pt lead with a victory here and, while Everton won't lie down, don't expect any slip-ups. The Red Devil's will be positive from the outset and the best odds of 6-5 about home side leading at both half time and full time looks the way to go.

If you like you goalscorer bets, Berbatov (BP 6-5) is slightly better value than Rooney to find the net at any time.
