Follow me - Andy Newton - as I give you my horse racing betting selections everyday to take on - I highlight runners that might not run as well as expected. Yes, you might think it's easy to pick a horse to lose, but I try to select horses that are well-fancied in the betting markets and therefore their odds will be lower - much better for laying horses.

As well as laying the horses in the 'win market' some followers like to play in the 'place market (advised)' where the liabilities are lower, while others just treat the advice as a way of ruling that horse out of calculations, paving the way to back one or two bigger-priced runners in the race.

3.30 Doncaster: ATOUCHBETWEENACARA – Not won since April 2009 and although dropping down to a handy mark I’d still be worried that it’s been so long between drinks for this one. Yes, the better ground will be in his favour, but, for me, he also needs to prove his stays this far – with his two career wins coming over shorter – while, finally, despite this being a veterans race he’s not getting any younger at 11 years-old.

4.05 Doncaster: STORM SURVIVOR (MAX BET) – Been going the right way with two wins from his last three runs, and the visor seemed to work a treat last time. However, he’s up in grade here, while a combination of a 14lb hike in the ratings and the fact he doesn’t have an 8lb claimer on his back either means he’s got to improve somewhere in the region of 22lbs to take this.

8.30 Kempton: BY IMPLICATION – Still a maiden from six career starts and despite this lowly grade it’s hard to get too excited about this one. Yes, he could improve being lightly-raced, and did run fairly well here last week, but if I were a backer here I’d rather be siding with one of the proven performers at the track – Mi Regalo, Very Well Red or Inquisitress.

Hi, I know there haven’t been many picks over the last few days, but the reason being is that I spent hours/days going over the last 23 months of selections and by being a bit more selective I’ve found that I can massively increase our profits on both the win and place lay. I won’t bore you with the ins and outs, but it revolves around a certain aspect of the horses form.

With the service soon to be going subscription then this is the new angle I’ll be taking – over the last 24 months it works out an average of 24 bets a month (still almost 1 a day) – and I’ll think you’ll agree that you’d rather sacrifice the odd day with ‘no bets’ in order to increase our profits.

I will STILL show ALL the selections (no change to current service), for those of you that don't like change, but I will clearly state when a horse is a maximum bet based on my new approach.

I know a lot of followers have different staking plans and rules, but if a pick drifts out of your comfort-zone (For me - 7.5+ on Betfair 1-2 mins before the off - NO BET) it's certainly not worth risking it, and remember there's always another day!
