Saturday’s Racing Tips
Paul Jacobs expects the 'Dancer' to push back the years.
3.25 – Haydock Park – DANSILI DANCER has been a credit to connections down through the years, but is quite obviously not as good as he was, but that fact has been recognised by the assessor who has dropped the selection to a mark of 89. And yet there remains little doubt that he retains most of his enthusiasm for the sport judged on his creditable fifth behind Rock A Doodle Doo off 93 when he may have raced a shade too prominently at Ascot.
In a race where there are no blatantly obvious rapid improvers, he looks a solid each-way play over a course and distance which suits him well and with the ground very much in his favour. Bourne is arguably the most progressive sort in the field, that profile having been dented at Epsom last time out when something was quite obviously amiss. He too is worth another chance on this more conventional track.

2.50 – Haydock Park – Vita Nova is the only one of this field in the Lancashire Oaks to have actually front run in her career and unless she goes on here we could get a very messy race which would certainly not suit Polly’s Mark who needs a good test at the trip, a remark that also applies to Fork Handles. So we need a filly on our side with a bit of tactical speed and that means siding with ELEANORA DUSE who needed her first run of the season in the Dahlia at Newmarket and on her third to Midday in the Yorkshire Oaks is the pick of these.
BET NOW – ELEANORA DUSE
3.55 – Haydock Park – With High Standing having been a bitter disappointment this year and the overall profile of the runners slightly disappointing this looks a good opportunity for PRIME DEFENDER to return to winning form. Barry Hills’ charge has always been campaigned in the highest class throughout his career and could never get into the action in the Wokingham Handicap behind Deacon Blues last time out. This better ground will almost certainly help and I shall be hugely surprised if he doesn’t play a part in proceedings.
BET NOW – PRIME DEFENDER
