Sheff Weds v Blackpool (Tues, 19:45, ESPN)
Recommended football betting tip:
Sheff Weds to win @ 8/5 – BET NOW
After coming within seconds of pulling off an upset at Bloomfield Road in the initial tie I fancy Sheffield Wednesday to get the job done on home soil. Ian Holloway has been reluctant to embrace the magic of the FA Cup and so we should see quite a few changes from the side that won 3-1 in Cardiff at the weekend. For a team so high in the Championship table Blackpool’s away form is moderate at best with just four wins from 15 away fixtures this season.
Wednesday’s home form, on the other hand, has been rock solid with 10 wins and three draws coming from their 13 home fixtures in League 1, a record unsurpassed by any other side in the division. Gary Megson named a pretty strong team for the first match against Blackpool and with a trip to Goodison Park the reward for getting through to the next round the Owls will be firing on all cylinders for this match and 8/5 looks a very fair price.
FA Cup Preview
Neither of these sides are likely to win this competition and so the bookmakers are offering long odds on them winning the cup. Blackpool are a best price 200/1 to go all the way whilst Wednesday’s odds are 300/1 though I expect the winner of this match to come up short against Everton in the next round.
