Paul Jacobs’ Best Bets

One again the all-weather surface has come to the rescue of British racing with the Wolverhampton meeting the only racing fixture on Thursday and Paul Jacobs sorts out his best bets on the seven race card for you below.

Wolverhampton Tips –

3.00 – Wolverhampton – Plenty of course and distance winners on good marks that are tempting in a race where the betting odds will probably be around the 4/1 the field marker, but the horse that makes the most appeal has yet to record a C&D success, the unexposed bottom weight FIELD FINNER. The four-year-old has been rewarded with a handicap mark of 52 following three low-key runs culminating in an eye-catching outing in a maiden over six furlongs last time out. The value of that form doesn’t really add up to much, but there is most certainly a whole lot more left in the locker from this daughter of Goodricke and she is preferred to Mataajir and Powerful Pierre both of which have concrete claims in this class.

BET NOW – FIELD FINNER

3.30 – Wolverhampton – On the evidence at our fingertips there isn’t a natural front-runner in the field although there must be a chance that Seven Year Itch could go on and therefore offer you a natural back to lay, but for win purposes this looks to be a clear-cut opening for CROWNING STAR, far from disgraced in a 0-85 handicap last time out. The extra furlong and a half will certainly be in his favour and he can outstay Clean Bowled and Dr Albert.

BET NOW – CROWNING STAR

4.05 – Wolverhampton – Hopefully Fastnet Storm will provide the pace in this race and that will suit several of these that like to come from off a decent speed. It’s a close knit handicap, but it could pay to side with BLACK COFFEE, a prolific winner last term and slowly slipping back down the handicap and returning to the track a fresh horse after a medium term lay-off. Of his rivals, Trip Switch certainly didn’t get the run of the race last time out at Lingfield Park and is worth a second look, while Hidden Glory is temptingly handicapped on his best form.

BET NOW – BLACK COFFEE

5.10 – Wolverhampton – An eight pound penalty seems a bit harsh for Gabrial’s Bounty following his hard earned success at Kempton Park last time out and undoubtedly the value lies with CHESTER’SLITTLEGEM who remains unexposed and showed plenty of promise in a similar race at Kempton Park last time out.

BET NOW – CHESTER’SLTTLESGEM
