PJ’s Best Bets

With the weather still doing its worst to inconvenience the betting industry the all-weather once again rules the roost with afternoon racing fixtures at Wolverhampton (from 2.00) and on the Fibresand at Southwell (1.15). On a difficult day’s racing Champion Tipster Paul Jacobs offers his value best bets of the day at the latter venue below.

Southwell Tips –

1.15 – Southwell – The opening two amateur events are pretty hard to call, but it is possible to cut down both fields to about four runners knowing the pace in the race and that plenty of the participants won’t even see out a fast run 11 furlongs. This opening contest sees the likes of Yossi, Kingaroo and Carlton Scroop all have solid each-way claims, but none of them are prolific winners so a small each-way nod goes in the direction of MUSTAJED. Rod Millman’s charge has a good record around here, will certainly see out the trip in a true-run race and a mark of 50 looks fine.

BET NOW – MUSTAJED (each-way)

1.45 – Southwell  - I think this is a better division of the race and top weight Apache Warrior could be interesting on his all-weather debut over a trip which should really suit. Dunaskin and company should make sure this is a really good test and the old man wouldn’t be without an each-way chance where he to get into a rhythm up front. Miereveld has claims on the book if on a going day, but he is not the easiest to predict and I have decided to side with MAGNITUDE who has shown some form here and his last run at Wolverhampton should have blown away the cobwebs. A winner off a mark of 82 in his pomp, 50 is surely too low for him and a close eye on the market place is advised.

BET NOW  - MAGNITUDE (each-way)

2.45 – Southwell SPIC N SPAN is taken to dominate this seller from the start and can make all and record his eighth C&D win for connections. Drawnfromthepast is the best weighted on recent exploits, but Wolves his more his domain and at racing odds of around 3/1 Griffin Point (yet to race here) could well be the main danger to the selection.

BET NOW – SPIC N SPAN

4.45 – Southwell  - With the cheekpieces back on we should get a solid run from HUNTERS BELT who has  affair record here. I suspect he may well be better than his current handicap mark of 65 and is preferred to Magic Haze. The last named has a bit more on his plate than when fourth to Unex Picasso, but those placings should be reversed here and off a mark only 2lbs higher than when winning last at the venue.

BET NOW – HUNTERS BELT
